Transfers: Salis Abdul Samed (Clermont) commits to Lens for five years

RC Lens continues its anticipation market. He has not yet sold any player but has just signed a fourth this Friday shortly after 2 p.m. After central striker Adam Buksa (New England Revolution, MLS, €6m, POL), right piston Jimmy Cabot (Angers, €2m), and up-and-coming defensive midfielder Lukasz Poreba (Zaglebie Lubin, POL, €300,000 ), the latter not yet formalized, Salis Abdul Samed, Ghanaian defensive midfielder from Clermont Foot, 22, has just signed with the artesian club for the next five years.

The Sang et Or paid €5 million to buy out the three-year contract of the player trained at the Jean-Marc Guillou Academy in Abidjan (CIV) until 2019. For the record, that year, the player had spent inconclusive tests at… RC Lens. At the time, Franck Haise was still responsible for the Lensoise reserve team. He had supervised this fiery environment (9 warnings, an expulsion last season in L1 where he played 31 games) and detected interesting potential.

A box-to-box profile

The player had nevertheless left to try his luck at Clermont Foot because of the very strong competition for the position among young people in Artois. Three years later, here he is back in the Hauts-de-France box with the idea of winning in the team coached by Franck Haise who finished twice in 7th place in L1.

What will be its use? Abdul Samed can play in all positions in the middle of the 3-4-3. He was presented as an axial player, even in a box to box profile. This means that the possible (probable) departures of the midfielder Cheick Doucouré (Crystal Palace, no less than 25 M€ + bonus) or the midfielder Seko Fofana (PSG, 35 to 40 M€) are well anticipated.

In the coming season, Norwegian Patrick Berg will be playing much more often. Young Lukasz Poreba, 22, will also be an integral part of the 2022-2023 squad.
