“What was the key to winning this big fight against Alizé Cornet?
Against Alizé, it’s always a hell of a fight and we really have two opposing styles of play. I was trying to be quite aggressive and her, she covers her ground well and she counters well. From the first to the last point it was super intense and I’m really happy with the state of mind. I managed to stay pretty calm most of the time to play as fair as possible because each ball was super important. Even if you were in front, it was never over.
How does it feel to chain the victories after complicated months since Miami?
It’s really good to win several matches on grass, they’ve been good matches, some great battles from the start for me and I’m happy with the way I’m fighting. Being able to play a final is good. It’s been a while so it’s very exciting and I’m proud of the work we did with my team to get back to the final.
“The last few months, the last few years have not been easy with few results and a lot of physical glitches so you have a lot of doubts”
What do you expect in the final against Bianca Andreescu?
I expect a big game. She is an aggressive player, she moves well on the court, she already has a lot of experience having won big titles, she will be the favourite. She didn’t play today, I played three hours.
This is your first final since 2019. What does it mean at this point in your career to play one again?
It’s super important, it gives a lot of positive energy, confidence. The last few months, the last few years have not been super easy with few results, a lot of physical glitches so you have a lot of doubts. But we always worked, tried to find solutions, clarify my style of play, rework physically and with my team we really did a good job. It’s super important for me and all of us to chain the victories and see that it pays off. »
