Like FC Nantes, Stade Rennais has embarked on a controversial project discussed by Breton ecologists: the construction of its new training center. Unlike the Canaries, however, the Rouge et Noir do not intend to relocate from La Piverdière but rather to build their new headquarters on the site of the old one at La Piverdière.

This Friday, the Piverdière 2 project was presented to the media by the deputy executive president Olivier Cloarec as well as by the mayor of Rennes Nathalie Appéré (PS) and by the chairman of the club’s board of directors Jacques Delanoë.

L’Equipe reveals the main lines with a finalization by 2025 for a cost approaching 40 M€, fully supported by the club and its shareholder, the Pinault family. The “Piv'”, refreshed in 2000 was spread over 11.4 hectares. The “Piv’ 2” will make 15 after the refusal of local residents’ associations to expand to 18. The club hopes for the green light from the municipal council on Monday to file the building permit. Start of work: September 2023.

The “Piv’ 2” comes out of the boxes!
