Prime Day Amazon

Prime Day ridicules Black Friday, Amazon knocks everything out this Tuesday (-80%)

In just a few years, Prime Day Amazon has become a major event in the French calendar. The operation, which takes place from July 12 to 13, cuts prices as much as during Black Friday. The turnover generated is much higher than any other day of the year.

On Amazon, Prime Day is unique: it is the day of the year that represents the greatest turnover. Ahead of Black Friday. In the space of a few years, the dealer has succeeded in making it an unmissable event for his public. Indeed, only Prime members can enjoy it. And the discounts are worthy of the best days of the year, which strengthen the interest of the general public.

If you’re not a Prime member, you still have a chance to take advantage of Prime Day discounts: Amazon gives you a 30 day free trial to convince you of his subscription. To succeed in its objective of reaching a turnover record during Prime Day, Amazon must deal with several things: aggressive prices, a large inventory and major brands that participate in the operation. With this mix, you can be sure that the merchant will achieve his goal. Worldwide, more than 200 million people are Prime subscribers, and many will also enjoy Prime Day.

Unlike sales, Prime Day does not allow Amazon to sell at a loss (same for Black Friday). That said, it is able to cut its margins as much as possible to offer unbeatable prices on popular products. You can quite quickly get 20-30% immediate discount on referrals that are only a few months old. It’s a golden window to save money.

How to optimize your Prime Day purchases?

Before giving you our strategies for Prime Day, we must first go back to the history of this operation to better understand it. As sales wane in popularity and Black Friday grows stronger, Amazon wanted to dream up its own shopping event. He wanted to draw inspiration from the world leader in e-commerce, Alibaba, which invented two concepts: that of its birthday and Singles Day.

On the same principle, Amazon therefore imagined Prime Day in July 2015. This date corresponds to its birthday, 20 years earlier. Since then, every year, the merchant platform puts forward thousands of offers for this operation. If it initially lasted only one day, Amazon first extended it to 36 hours, then now 48 hours. That’s whyit lasts from July 12 at midnight until July 13 at 11:59 p.m..

It will therefore be necessary to be reactive from the start because the offers can leave in a few hours. Ideally, if you can log in as early as Tuesday midnight, that will give you access to all the Prime Day deals. Amazon will reveal everything at the same time, it will only be a question of stock. If the latter is large enough, then you can expect to have discounts over two full days.

On the internet, electronics is a very popular family of products, due to the fact that the devices are standardized. For Prime Day, Amazon will honor them with discounts on the biggest brands. In previous editions, we have seen the latest Apple, Samsung or Xiaomi products at reduced prices. The merchant also promotes its own brands such as Ring, Kindle, Echo or eero.

From this Monday before Prime Day, Amazon released some real nuggets. The reduction percentages are quite phenomenal since you can see discounts of up to -70% on certain references. This is the case, for example, of the fourth generation Echo Dot portable speakers, which have seen their prices plummet by 70%. These are fun and useful products that will very easily find their place in a home.

Being a Prime Member at Amazon

During the year, Amazon very rarely distinguished between its Prime and non-Prime customers. Prime Day is, however, an operation that aims to thank loyal customers (ie those who have a Prime subscription) with irresistible discounts. The latter can make savings worthy of a Black Friday, or even better. In the middle of July, the e-commerce site manages to seduce its customers.

As we said, the curious can test the Prime subscription for 30 days. They can therefore fully access Prime Day offers and free delivery within 24 hours. They also have the possibility of terminating immediately afterwards if they do not want to prolong the experience. In any case, they would be wrong: Amazon earns nothing on the Prime program, quite the contrary. He just wants to use it to build customer loyalty.

For 49 euros per year (or 5.99 euros per month), customers can become Prime members. It gives them Amazon Prime Day access, but also to several high value-added services. This is the case of Prime Video, which offers films, series and sports programs such as Roland Garros (or Ligue 1 as an extra) on a platform. This is also the case for Prime Music or Amazon Gaming.

If you need to shop for back to school, Prime Day on Amazon is the best time: beyond that, you won’t have to count on discounts. The next big event where you can save money will be Black Friday. Unfortunately, this one only takes place at the end of November. We will therefore have to wait until then to review offers at the level of this Prime Day.

At Amazon, during Prime Day and all other events, you always have a safety net on your purchases. This means that during the 30 days after delivery of your purchase, you can return it and get a refund. This allows you to buy without any risk of ending up with a product that you do not like. The merchant is very accommodating, and returns are very easy.
