PlayStation Plus: The “free” PS5 and PS4 games of August 2022

Game News PlayStation Plus: The “free” PS5 and PS4 games of August 2022

The month of July is coming to an end… So this is the perfect opportunity for Sony to finally reveal the games that will be offered in August to players with a PlayStation Plus subscription. So, were the various rumors right?

From the Tuesday August 2, at around 5 p.m., players with a PS+ Premium subscription, a PS+ Extra subscription or even a PS+ Essential subscription, will be able to add three additional big games to their collection. And if the predictions of Spanish journalist Christian Henares are wrong, Dealabs is once again right. No NieR Automata or Mass Effect: Legendary Edition on the horizon, but Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Little Nightmares. In other words, we are entitled to a program as excellent as it is eclectic this month.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 (PS4/PS5)

We’re starting the August PS+ program on the “rollers” hats with the arrival of professional skateboarder Tony Hawk who, here, has equipped himself with his most beautiful board. Remake of the first two opuses of the saga, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 embellishes the past of the license with brand new graphics and completely revised and corrected gameplay which is directly inspired by the controls brought by the fourth chapter of Tony’s video game adventures, but also by Underground. The icing on the cake, the app takes the opportunity to bring together all the legends who have forged the aura of the saga, starting with Steve Caballero, Kareem Campbell and Rodney Mullen. Added to this are also some welcome new faces like Nyjah Huston, Leo Baker and Leticia Bufoni.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon (PS4/PS5)

We go on like a combo with Yakuza: Like a Dragon ! After eyeing the side of beat’em up for nearly 15 years, the unmissable saga of Ryu ga Gotoku Studio is radically changing its formula on the occasion of the arrival of next-gen consoles. No more real-time fighting, Yakuza: Like a Dragon has chosen to accentuate the RPG dimension of the series by now offering turn-based tactical combat. A daring gamble, but one that paid off, since the public quickly adopted this novelty. On our side, we were also seduced by this proposal: we opted for a nice 16 out of 20.

Little Nightmares (PS4/PS5)

We conclude the program of PS+ Essential for the month of August with the arrival of Little Nightmares which, under its childish appearance, hides a particularly frightening game. In this video game nightmare, the player embodies Six, a teenager draped in a pretty yellow raincoat, who will have to face a repugnant, monstrous and constantly hostile bestiary. Between puzzles and chases, the title of Tarsier knows how to vary the pleasures, and this, while offering breathtaking panoramas. It must be said that the whole is helped by an artistic direction to fall which takes, without hiding it, the paw of the genius Tim Burton.

About the new PlayStation Plus:

What is PlayStation Plus?

What are the 3 PS Plus offers?

The PlayStation Plus consists of three levels: Essential (€8.99 / month), Extra (€13.99 / month) and Premium (€16.99 / month). The first offers the same advantages as the old PS Plus (online play, save in the cloud, games included each month, exclusive reductions via PlayStation Store). The second also benefits from a catalog of around 400 PS4 titles | PS5. And the third adds on top of retro software (PSP, PS1, PS2, PSP), the reading of a selection of games remotely thanks to streaming and – this is important – demos to test a handful of blockbusters.

Who can benefit from free PlayStation Plus games?

Depending on your subscription, you will not have access to the same games. With the PlayStation Plus Essential, you are entitled to the PS Plus Collection (only on PS5) and to the titles offered each month. With the Extra, you have access to a PS4 catalog | PS5 of around 400 apps. And with Premium, you get nearly 340 retro games, streaming PS3 titles and demos.
