What happens at the Pony Club ? A popular spot for locals Toulouse since its opening in 2020, the ephemeral guinguette located on the grounds of La Cépière racecourse seems to be losing its luster in this 2022 season. Between the cancellation of concerts and public dissatisfaction, morale is not looking good for this place, which is nevertheless very friendly with a musical program of rare quality in the Pink City. Response elements.
Conflict with neighbors
Since the 2021 season, a major conflict opposes the Pony Club to the residents of the district. “Unbearable noise pollution”, were denounced in particular by the “Collective of residents of the Cépière against the nuisances of the Pony Club” after several fiery evenings.
In the eye of the storm following these nuisances, the establishment did everything to fall into line and control the impact of the concerts on the surrounding homes. The scene has notably been reoriented at the dawn of this new season. Efforts appreciated, but it is still not enough for the residents. “There is a clear improvement, explains Sylvie Jeandidier, but this is not a place to hold an electro festival. We still want this to end. »
“The legal proceedings are ongoing and the organizer of the Pony Club will one day have to answer for breaches of the noise pollution regulations committed throughout the 2021 season.”
Seduced by the programming and the atmosphere of the 2021 season, regulars and new customers have been somewhat disillusioned since the reopening of the establishment on June 18. In question: the sound volume far from being to everyone’s taste.
“Too bad the sound is not up to par with the musical programming: not loud enough, bad balance, we hear the crowd chatting more than the concert…”; “If you can’t work properly because of the neighbors, stop the concerts. To make us pay 20 € the entrance to hear nothing, it’s a scam. »; “The bookings seem interesting, on the other hand the quality of the sound is catastrophic. The sound is very low and you can’t hear the voices of the artists. “… Bad reviews are raining down on social networks despite good programming and an excellent atmosphere on the premises.
“The concept is great. Prog is crazy. The frame is cool. But the sound please… I know there have been problems with the neighborhood but there must not be abused either… What’s the point of having the event outside if there is no sound? ? »
On the side of the “Collective of residents of the Cépière against the nuisances of the Pony Club”, we fear “a slippage during the season” following these negative returns.
And cancellations that follow one another…
Another problem for the Pony Club: the multiplication of concert cancellations. In less than a week, four artists have canceled their visit to the Pink City: afrojack (July 21), Alan Braxe and DJ Falcon (July 22) then Ofenbach (July 27).
The management assures that all these cancellations “are beyond its control” and that “all places will be refunded”.
Fatboy Slim, Martin Solveig or Leto will still have ensured beautiful evenings this summer, while waiting Timmy Trumpet (this Thursday, July 28), Malaa (August 5) or MHD (September 10).
The management wants to be reassuring
Aware of the problems encountered since the launch of the 2022 season, the management of the Pony Club wants to be reassuring about the rest of the events. “We recently held a meeting to define the outlines of the second part of the season and rework the programming. We hope to raise the level…”
The establishment wishes “no more to make disappointed” and assures its customers “that it is working in this direction”.
