Lotus to produce speculoos in Asia – Companies

Lotus Bakeries plans to open a factory in Thailand in 2026 to produce its speculoos, renamed Biscoff, the biscuit manufacturer from East Flanders announced on Wednesday.

The Asia-Pacific region has grown steadily in importance for the group over the past few years, and there is still significant growth potential there, according to Lotus. The new location will allow the producer to “respond more quickly to regional opportunities”, while reducing transport costs.

Thailand was chosen for its central location, the importance of its food industry, as well as its regulations and labor costs.

The project will be officially on track in the coming months, as soon as the land chosen to house the plant has been acquired. Based on the established schedule, the first line should be operational in 2026.

In addition to Belgium, Lotus has been producing speculoos in North Carolina since 2019.
