CINEMA – The biopic dedicated to Zlatan Ibrahimović, entitled “I am Zlatan: The Movie”, unveils its first trailer. The Swedish footballer shared it on his Twitter account this Monday, June 28. Scheduled for September 10 in Sweden (the release date in France is not yet known), the film which only evokes the beginnings of the star is directed by Jens Sjögren. It is inspired by the player’s autobiography “I, Zlatan Ibrahimović: my story told to David Lagercrantz”, released in 2011.
The former star of Paris Saint-Germain will be embodied on screen by two actors: Dominic Bajraktari Andersson for the period of his life ranging from 11 to 13 years old and Granit Rushiti for his first years in pro in Malmö then in Ajax Amsterdam (17 -23 years). It’s still unclear if he himself will make an appearance.
It’s here Gazzetta Dello Sport who revealed last November that a feature film centered on part of Zlatan Ibrahimović’s youth would see the light of day. The Italian sports media had also explained that the AC Milan striker had been very involved in the writing of the screenplay, even as he was fighting for the title of Italian champion with his club.
A documentary on “Ibra”, entitled “Becoming Zlatan”, had already seen the light of day in 2016, and also explored his rise in the world of football. Still on the cinema side, Zlatan Ibrahimović will also soon make an appearance in “Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Empire” (released in 2022) in the skin of the Antivirus character. He will succeed the other great sportsmen who have played in the franchise in the past such as Michael Schumacher, Zinédine Zidane, Tony Parker or Amélie Mauresmo.
