Barely two and a half months after his appointment as CEO, Guillaume Collard presented this week the new internal structure intended to propel RTL Belgium into a new era. The ambition is therefore to increase the value of the brands, to develop a powerful content strategy in the fields of information, entertainment, sport and co-production and above all, to accelerate the group’s digital transformation, big weakness of the house so far. To do this, oh irony of history, RTL Belgium will develop a mode of operation quite similar to RTBF but with nuances: creation of a content center intended to supply the media center. For the latter, there are three media and no longer two: TV, radio and digital. The first will be directed by Erwin Lapraille, current director general of radios, and the last by Julien Brassine. The radio is still officially looking for a new boss. As for the content which will be directed by Guillaume Collard, four departments have been identified: news and magazines (headed by Laurent Haulotte), sport (Vincenzo Ciuro has just arrived from Proximus TV for the directing), acquisitions (Laurent Bastin) and entertainment (Eusebio Larrea). The idea is therefore to start from the contents independently of the media but then to maximize their distribution. These changes have been well received by the unions, who speak of “a thoughtful, coherent, bold strategy that lives up to their expectations”. They came into force on Thursday, September 1. No departure is on the agenda except for that of Sandrine Gobbesso, the general director of TV and former HRD who piloted the Evolve transformation plan in 2017.
