Another Belgian story. So, a priori unexpected, colorful, out of the ordinary. Consider a former cinema operated by the gendarmerie for internal use (!) in the barracks on Avenue de la Couronne in Ixelles. A place abandoned for a while, now a group of young cinephiles have taken over the place since 2019 and renamed this amazing room “Kinograph”, a cooperative operation that works mainly with volunteers. On the program: new, vintage, quirky, film quality, without forgetting two fingers of “boboism”. But in this new school year 2022, the space must move due to major works on the site of the barracks concerned. The Kinograph therefore finds refuge with a neighbor, 10 minutes on foot from there: the Flagey institution. And of course enjoy the amenities, decor and equipment of the spectacular modernist building. With a helping hand from Cinematek, a new concept is formed, dubbed Cinéflagey. A rejuvenation, alternative and audacity in this Flagey which sometimes seems stiff, even snobbish and politically Flemish? Answer in the next few weeks. On the screen.
