There was a copy in Steve McQueen’s garage. The Californian Manx buggy of the sixties will be reborn, but in an electric version. The original was derived from the VW Beetle, the new is based on an aluminum monocoque chassis. But the style has hardly changed. And the cabin remains minimalist and retro. The company announces that the electric motor will deliver 200 hp and 325 Nm, and will be powered by a 40 kWh battery which would offer up to 480 kilometers of autonomy, thanks to its light weight (750 kilos), also guaranteeing very good performance. (0 to 100 km/h announced in… 4.5 seconds!). A less demonstrative version should also be offered (less powerful motor and 20 kWh battery offering 240 kilometers of autonomy). Fifty pre-series prototypes will be tested in 2023 and the “Manx 2.0” will be officially marketed in 2024. Pre-orders are open on the site www.meyersmanx.com for a deposit, but the final price is not yet known.
