Saints – Seahawks (39-32): Taysom Hill was everywhere!

New Orleans Saints (2-3) – Seattle Seahawks (2-3): 39-32

The great story of this Sunday could have been following the rebirth of Geno Smith (16/25, 268 yards, 3 TDs), who delivered a very interesting new match. But there was nothing to do against the other unlikely hero of the day: Taysom Hill.

With 9 carries for 112 yards and 3 touchdowns, 1 pass for 22 yards for a touchdown, and a fumble covered on special teams, Hill was everywhere.

While Seattle was back in front (31-32) on foot just under seven minutes from the end, Hill went for the winning touchdown on a 60-yard run! The defense then locked in the result.

Geno Smith, rebirth?

With Geno Smith and Andy Dalton (16/34, 187 yards, 1 TD, 1 int) at the helm, it wasn’t necessarily an offensive match that was expected. And yet. Smith continues to defy the odds this season. With touchdowns of 50 yards and 35 yards in the first half, respectively for DK Metcalf (5 rec, 88 yards, 1 TD) and Tyler Lockett (5 rec, 104 yards, 2 TDs), Seattle leads 19-17 at the half, despite Hill’s first two touchdowns.

The second half is in two stages. Chris Olave captures a touchdown but leaves the field following the same action with a concussion (24-19). Adam Trautman also scores, on a pass from an Andy Dalton who was almost forgotten, and New Orleans leads 31-19 at the start of the last quarter. Alvin Kamara (23 carries, 103 yards) is also working quite well, and everything seems in place for a quiet victory.

Except that Smith and Seattle aren’t giving up this year. Tyler Lockett still finds the end zone to reduce the gap (31-25), still deep. And it’s Kenneth Walker III who takes off for a 69-yard run that puts Seattle in front (31-32).

It is therefore Taysom Hill who will finally have the last word, with his own mad race.

Not sure that these two teams can play the leading roles on a regular basis, but the fun is definitely there.
