New attendance record in July for Docks Bruxsel – Companies

Docks Bruxsel recorded a new attendance record in July with more than 709,000 visitors over the month, compared to 469,000 in July 2019, the shopping center management announced on Tuesday. The month of December 2021 was until then the month that had garnered the most visits (694,265) since the opening of the site on October 20, 2016.

July was sales month. On Friday July 1, 34,950 visitors visited the aisles of Docks, against 26,438 on the first day of the sales last year (+32%). The sales manager at Docks Bruxsel, Nathalie Eloy, observes, however, that December is usually the best month of the year.

“This record attendance confirms our efforts to affirm Docks Bruxsel as a true leisure destination”, she believes in the first place. It points to the opening, on 24 June, of the Lego Discovery centre, unique in Belgium, but also the summer game for children “Escape Game” (from 9 July to 6 August) and the “Summer lodge” (from 26 June to 3 September), which has a bar and offers salsa lessons in the evening.

These last two temporary initiatives are in addition to the permanent activity offer comprising the Koezio indoor leisure area, a cinema, the Docks Dôme event hall and the Godin museum, which retraces the industrial history of the site. In addition to the hundred commercial brands and the 15 restaurants installed, the leisure sector represents more than 20% of the property of the shopping center, which is really atypical”, notes Nathalie Eloy.

The development of Docks Bruxsel will continue in this direction. A car wash service, charging stations for electric vehicles, a nail salon as well as a hairdresser and barber are under study or in the process of being installed. The shopping center closed 2021 with 5.7 million visitors, an increase of 17% compared to the year before the health crisis (4.9 million in 2019). Over the first seven months of 2022, its attendance already exceeds 4 million people, which represents an increase of more than 21% compared to the previous year. The management is therefore revising its forecasts upwards and hopes to reach an annual attendance of 7 million at the end of December.
