A Kroger “store of the future” is being tested in the Greater Cincinnati area.The new concept is being tested at the Kroger off of Heritage Green Drive in Monroe.The “store of the future” gives customers more high-tech options when shopping and checking out in addition to traditional methods. Customers at the Monroe store can now use “KroGO carts” that have built-in scales and cameras. Kroger has been piloting several new initiatives at stores in Ohio, including drone deliveries.The first delivery launched out of Centerville, Ohio.The autonomous delivery is in partnership with Drone Express, a division of Telegrid Technologies.The technology will allow package delivery directly to the location of a customer’s cell phone — meaning it can do much more than just home delivery.

The store also offers belted self-checkout lanes for larger orders, the typical self-checkout lanes in addition to traditional checkout lanes with a cashier.
