Texans – Titans (10-17): play it like Tennessee

Texans – Titans (10-17): play it like Tennessee

Defense, King Henry and a victory at the end for Tennessee!

Houston Texans (1-5-1) – Tennessee Titans (5-2): 10-17

There wasn’t really a game tonight as the Titans made life easy on defense. By multiplying the defensive saves (8 punts and 1 forced interception) against the Texans attack, Tennessee did not have to ask too much of their rookie quarterback Malik Willis (and so much the better…) and could count on their living legend : Derrick Henry (32 carries, 219 yards, 2TD).

Because the fact of the evening in this match without suspense, it is good to have seen King Henry always write a little more his legend on the side of Tennessee. With 219 yards and especially his 74th and 75th touchdowns for the Titans, Henry became number 1 in the category for his franchise by passing the legendary Eddie George.

Henry and the rest

Fortunately, Derrick Henry was able to bring a little offensive momentum in this first half. The runner covered 124 yards on 15 carries and especially scored the 74th touchdown of his career for the Titans. A score that allows him to join legend George Eddie on the 1st step of touchdown scorers for the franchise.

It was on a powerful 29-yard run that Henry scored to allow his team to lead 7-3.

For the rest it was rather complicated for his partners in attack and the rookie Malik Willis intercepted once.

But the Titans did not have to be ashamed as the Texans still did less on offense. Apart from a field goal (following the defensive interception), Houston was completely annihilated offensively: 3 first downs and 35 yards gained at the break. We let you imagine the content.

Houston we have a problem…

The second half is basically a copy paste of the first. Houston can’t get anywhere on offense, and Tennessee just runs for the difference.

The Titans will add a touchdown by Henry (3-14) then a field goal (3-17) after two series where the team has only run to advance.

Houston will “save” the honor on its very last series by adding a touchdown (10-17) from Dameon Pierce on a pass from Mills. A drive that will allow the Texans to increase their number of yards gained tonight from 71 to 161 yards and their average yards per action from 1.7 to 3.2! Fantastic ! Clearly the Texans continue to sink into an offensive slump that smells of departures at the end of the season.

Tennessee continues with another victory in its most typical style.
