Tom Brady speaks publicly about his divorce for the first time

Aside from a brief statement on social media last Friday, Tom Brady had still not publicly addressed his divorce from supermodel Gisele Bündchen. He took advantage of his weekly podcast on Monday to take stock of his personal situation.

During the 28-minute episode with host Jim Gray, the famous Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback answered two questions on the subject, lasting just under two minutes.

Without delving into specifics and referring directly to his ex-wife, Brady instead chose to compare his situation to that anyone else has gone through, even in other, less public spheres.

“There are several professionals in life who have to go through things at work and at home. The good news is that the situation is very friendly and I’m really focused on two aspects. To take care of my family and certainly of my children. Second, to do the best job possible to win football matches,” he said.

home and work

Without asking him directly if his divorce affected his game, Jim Gray instead questioned Brady on whether it was difficult for him to compartmentalize his personal life and football.

“That’s what professionals do. You focus on work when it’s time to work. Then when you get home, you focus on the priorities at home. You can only do your best. That’s what I’m going to keep doing as long as I’m going to work and I’m a dad,” he replied.

“I had to deal with all kinds of difficult situations in 23 years, on and off the pitch.”

“Everyone has their challenges. We are all human. We are all doing our best. I have amazing parents who taught me the right way to do things. I want to be a good dad to my kids and do the right things too.”

Difficult season

It’s hard not to make a connection between the divorce of Brady and Bündchen, who had been married since 2009, and the season which is not going smoothly.

The Buccaneers show a record of three wins and five losses. As a starting quarterback in the NFL since 2001, Brady has never ended up with such a record. His people have lost five of their last six games, a situation that the legendary 45-year-old athlete has never experienced either.

“Losing sucks. But no one feels bad for the “Bucs”. We know it and we have to change the situation”, mentioned Brady to this effect.

Brady and Bündchen have a 12-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl together. Brady also has another 15-year-old son from a previous union with actress Bridget Moynahan.
