The Minnesota Vikings struck a blow on Tuesday at the NFL trade deadline.
The club has secured Detroit Lions tight end TJ Hockenson. The Vikings gave up a second-round pick in 2023 and a third-round pick in 2024. A fourth-round pick for 2023 and a conditional pick the following year went to Minnesota.
The 25-year-old footballer is considered by many to be one of the top 10 players playing at his position in the Goodell circuit. He also has a contract valid until the conclusion of the 2023 campaign.
In seven games this season, Hockenson caught 26 passes for 395 yards and three touchdowns.
The Vikings (6-1) dominate the North Section of the National Conference, while the Lions (1-6) are fourth and last in the same division.
Help for Justin Fields
The Chicago Bears have secured Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool.
In return, the Pennsylvania squad got a second-round pick.
The Bears (3-5) needed weapons to help their quarterback Justin Fields. The Canadian receiver is currently playing his third season in the NFL and has amassed more than 800 yards in his first two laps on the prestigious circuit.
This season, he had 32 catches for 311 yards and a major in eight games. Claypool also threw a touchdown pass last Sunday in his last game for the Steelers (2-6).
Dolphins give first pick
For their part, the Miami Dolphins sent a first draft pick in 2023 to the Denver Broncos, in return for defensive lineman Bradley Chubb and a fifth-round selection in 2025.
The choice obtained by the Colorado formation is that of the San Francisco 49ers, which the Florida club had received in a transaction carried out in 2021.
At 26, Chubb could become a free agent at the end of this campaign. The quarterback hunter has 26 tackles and 5.5 sacks in eight games in 2022.
The North Carolina State University product fills an important need in the Dolphins’ defense (5-3), which ranks 23rd in the league in sacks.
A player suspended for the “Jags”
The Jacksonville Jaguars have acquired Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley, who is suspended for the entire current season.
The 27-year-old athlete received this sanction for betting $1,500 on an NFL game.
The “Jags” paid second (2024) and third (2023) round picks for the man who scored 28 touchdowns in 49 career games.
