The global coronavirus crisis has radically changed and influenced the lives of the Swiss in 2020. As one might suspect, it has been at the center of Google queries from users.

With a thrilling showdown between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, the US presidential election follows in second place. The “weather of tomorrow” ranks on the last step of the podium. Kobe Bryant, Coop@home, iPhone 12, Zoom and Playstation 5 are also in the top 10 searches in Switzerland.
News punctuated by the virus
Since the word “coronavirus” dominated queries as rarely has a topic ever done before, Google Switzerland published a small list of searches related to the topic this year.
Among the most searched keywords are “OFSP”, “coronavirus data”, “coronavirus symptoms”, “FOPH press releases”, “Swiss Federal Council” and “Swiss quarantine list”.
Rochebin, Berset and Koch
In terms of personalities, the top trio of Swiss searches on Google in 2020 consists of Darius Rochebin, Alain Berset and Daniel Koch. The last two mentioned being particularly closely linked to the management of the pandemic in the country. Erika Hess, Ueli Steck and Marc Hirschi also make it into the top 10.
At the international level, Joe Biden, recently elected 46th President of the United States, Kim Jong Un and Kamala Harris were the personalities most sought after by the Swiss this year. Boris Johnson comes in 4th place in this ranking.
