NFL: Deshaun Watson will be able to train with his teammates

CLEVELAND — Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson will be able to practice with his teammates starting Monday, an important step in his return to the game after he was handed an 11-game suspension from the NFL.

Watson, who was accused of sexual misconduct by more than 20 young women during massage sessions, reached an out-of-court settlement with the league in August to serve an 11-game suspension, pay a fine of US$5 million and to undergo therapy and awareness sessions.

Until now, Watson could only attend team meetings and train alone at the facilities of the Browns (3-6). They have time off until Wednesday, and that’s when Watson must reconnect with his teammates on the field.

As long as he continues to meet the conditions dictated by the NFL, Watson will be able to train in anticipation of a return to play on December 4 against the Houston Texans _ the team that drafted him in 2017 and who then traded to the Browns last March.

Browns general manager Andrew Berry has previously mentioned that Watson will face the Texans.

Watson has always maintained that he never harassed women who accused him of inappropriate behavior during massage sessions that happened while he was playing for the Texans. He settled 23 of the 24 civil lawsuits against him out of court in Texas.
