A romantic comedy, the feel-good movie that lives up to its name

Alex Lutz and Golshifteh Farahani share the poster for this invigorating romcom in which Montmartre is the main setting.

After missing out on his career in music, César (Alex Lutz) disappeared overnight without leaving an address. For fear of commitment, he left alone and without news his companion Salomé (Golshifteh Farahani), a woman with a big heart and a strong character. When he reappears one fine day, the latter tells him that he is the father of a 3-year-old girl and that she does not want to see him again. Realizing that she is the woman of his life, César will do everything to be up to it and win her back…

This feel-good film announces the color in its title and plays with the clichés of the genre: a joyful film, ideal in this rather gloomy period. Alex Lutz dons the costume of the childish man and takes the opportunity to make his comic verse. The 44-year-old actor and humorist is nonetheless deep and chivalrous. Unaccustomed to the genre, the 39-year-old Franco-Iranian actress is trying her hand at comedy. The reunion of these disunited lovers is a joy and the film gives its viewers an invigorating air. It’s actually a nod to Caesar and Rosaliewith Yves Montant and Romy Schneider, where we also find a smooth-talking character named César.

For his first feature film as a director, Thibault Segouin, who previously co-wrote the script for guy, chose Montmartre as a backdrop. The Parisian district is perhaps the third character ofA romantic comedy, where we even see Golshifteh Farahani driving the small train of the mound. Tchéky Karyo, Alexandra Roth, Olivier Chantreau and Slimane Dazy are also in the cast. Theatrical release this Wednesday, November 16.
