NFL: Cardinals fire coach hours before game

The Arizona Cardinals have shown offensive line coach Sean Kugler the way out after he was involved in an incident in Mexico.

According to the ESPN network, the 56-year-old man was fired for touching a woman without her consent. The latter reportedly filed a complaint with the police on Sunday evening. The authorities then contacted the organization of the “Cards”, who were in Mexico City on Monday to face the San Francisco 49ers at Azteca Stadium.

“We fired him and he went home Monday morning with the game,” said head coach Kliff Kingsbury, whose remarks were reported by the daily “Arizona Republic”.

“It’s a challenge when you make a change of coach in this way,” added the one who did not want to publicly give the exact reasons for Kugler’s departure.

Kugler had been a member of the Cardinals coaching staff since the 2019 campaign. He previously worked for the Detroit Lions, Buffalo Bills, Pittsburgh Steelers and Denver Broncos organizations.

He is the second coach to leave the team due to his actions this season. Last August, running backs manager James Saxon turned himself in to Indiana police after physically assaulting a woman in his Indianapolis home. The “Cards” then put him on administrative leave.

Saxon then resigned in October, after being sentenced to a year in prison.
