NFL: The 49ers offer the title of section at the expense of the Seahawks

Brock Purdy completed two touchdown passes to George Kittle and the San Francisco 49ers secured the National Conference West title by beating the Seattle Seahawks 21-13 on Thursday night.

The 49ers are division champions for the first time since 2019.

Despite using their third starting quarterback this season, the 49ers (10-4) continued to show they could be the National Conference favorites alongside the Philadelphia Eagles. The 49ers used their excellent defense to force the Seahawks to make many mistakes. They posted their seventh straight win after starting the season with a 3-4 record.

The 49ers benefited from a handful of big plays from their rookie quarterback. Playing on the road for the first time in his career, Purdy had his first 11 pass attempts. Among those was a 28-yard touchdown for Kittle in the first quarter, when he executed two fakes before spotting his tight end.

Kittle added a 58-yard major in the third quarter. The star tight end finished the game with 93 yards on four receptions.

Purdy completed 17 of 26 passes for 217 yards.

Christian McCaffrey rushed for 108 yards and scored a touchdown.

The 49ers defense held Geno Smith and his offense in check for the majority of the game. Smith joined Noah Fant on 10 yards in the end zone for the Seahawks’ lone touchdown in the fourth quarter.
