Tom Cruise cuts out his latest death-defying stunt Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning to thank fans for making Top Gun: Maverick a hit.
Tom Cruise thanks Top Gun 2 fans while doing a stunt for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning. Cruise’s unwavering commitment to creating truly thrilling cinematic experiences paid off this year, when his long-awaited sequel Top Gun: Maverick soared to $1.45 billion at the worldwide box office. But Cruise obviously isn’t done yet, as he’s currently hard at work directing not one but two new installments in his long-running Mission: Impossible action-thriller series.
Proving he’s also one of the world’s greatest multitaskers, Cruise just released a video in which he thanks fans for making Top Gun: Maverick a huge hit while he was literally filming. a stunt for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning. Cruise’s favorite writer-director Christopher McQuarrie also appears in the clip, aptly strapped into an airplane seat as Cruise returns first in a terrifying skydive over the South African coast. Everything we know about Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning
It has been revealed that the two-part Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning will mark the end of the road for action hero Ethan Hunt. Returning alongside Cruise for the farewell films are series mainstays Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson and Vanessa Kirby, alongside newcomers Haley Atwell, Shea Whigham and Pom Klementieff. Back home after a long absence from the franchise, the character of Eugene Kittridge, played again by Henry Czerny. Esai Morales, who plays the main antagonist of the first film, also joins the party. Holt McCallany and Nick Offerman are also jumping on board for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two.
Plot details on both films are understandably being kept under wraps at this time. But a recently released trailer for Mission: Impossible 7 offered plenty of teases, including underwater action, a possible love story for Ilsa from Ethan and Ferguson, a grand chase through Rome for Grace d ‘Ethan and Atwell and the villainous role of Klementieff. Dead Reckoning – Part One will also feature some major stunts, including a huge motorcycle jump for Cruise and a final chase sequence aboard a train. A few stunts from Dead Reckoning – Part Two, including one that required Cruise to learn how to fly a biplane, were also teased.
There’s understandably been a lot of speculation about Cruise’s Ethan Hunt fate, given that seemingly ominous Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning title. But it remains to be seen if Hunt will eventually die or have a chance to leave when the sun goes down. Meanwhile, Cruise fans can enjoy his signature action even more from the safety and comfort of home when Top Gun 2 hits Paramount+ on December 22, 2022.
