Patti LuPone in Hollywood

Patti LuPone joins Kathryn Hahn in Agatha: Coven of Chaos

Patti LuPone has just been cast in the WandaVision spin-off series Agatha: Coven of Chaos.

Another name has just been announced for the cast of Agatha: Coven of Chaos, the upcoming WandaVision spin-off series starring a returning Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness. Per Deadline, Patti LuPone has just joined the cast for an undisclosed role, but is rumored to be playing a witch. Her casting comes after the recent announcement that Aubrey Plaza would be making her MCU debut on the show along with other stars such as Joe Locke, Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia and Sasheer Zamata. Emma Caulfield Ford also says she will return as Dottie from WandaVision.

LuPone’s casting might suggest big plans are in store for the music of Agatha: Coven of Chaos. That wouldn’t be surprising, as WandaVision has already won the Emmy for its original song “Agatha All Along.” If so, LuPone’s talents and experience in musical theater will come in handy. She has won three Tony Awards as well as two Olivier Awards and two Grammys.

LuPone can also be recognized for her many acting roles, appearing in recent years on TV shows like American Horror Story, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Pose, and Hollywood. She’s also appeared in a variety of movies, including classics like 1941 and Driving Miss Daisy. Most recently, she appeared in Netflix’s The School for Good and Evil and will next appear in the upcoming horror-comedy film Beau Afraid alongside Joaquin Phoenix.

Agatha gets her own spin-off series

It’s no big shock to see Disney+ moving forward with more WandaVision characters, given how successful the series was upon release. In addition to attracting large numbers of viewers, the series was a big hit during awards season, winning eight Primetime Emmy Awards. This includes an interim name for Kathryn Hahn, who will direct Agatha: Coven of Chaos. She also won Best Fight (shared with Elizabeth Olsen) as well as Best Villain at the MTV Movie & TV Awards.

Meanwhile, another spin-off planned for WandaVision is also in the works. The spin-off would be called Vision Quest and would follow Paul Bettany as The Vision, while Jac Schaeffer would be on board as editor. However, the series has not been officially announced by Disney and Marvel Studios at this time.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos does not yet have a release date. You can stream WandaVision on Disney+.
