What is the story of the movie Cirkus about

The Jamnadas Anaath Aashram in Ooty is run by two orphans Roy and Joy, who grew up in the same orphanage. It is a haven of peace for all those children who have no one to turn to. Dr. Roy (Murali Sharma) has a goal in his heart. He wants to change the way the world views orphans and make them see and believe that more than a person’s family, lineage or caste and religion, it’s education that matters most. It strikes gold when two sets of identical twins are chosen by two sets of loving but childless parents. Dr. Roy replaces a twin from set A with one from set B, creating a set of brothers Roy and Joy (Ranveer Singh and Varun Sharma), who will be raised by parents who run a successful Cirkus in Ooty and another set of Roy and Joy (Ranveer and Varun), who will be raised by parents of industrialists in Bangalore. Several years later, the Bangalore twins land in Ooty, triggering multiple instances of mistaken identity leading to chaos and confusion until the twins finally collide.

what is hot

Rohit Shetty is known for creating an immersive experience worthy of the big screen and he immerses us in his scenic and colorful universe with Cirkus. Although it’s a comedy of errors, protagonists Ranveer Singh and Varun Sharma thankfully refrain from being cartoonish. The comedy revolves around them, powered by the impeccable comedic timings of actors like Sanjay Mishra, Siddharth Jadhav, Johnny Lever among others. Their puns and puns will give you a few chuckles here and there and a special mention for the use of songs from yesteryear that fit so well with situational comedy, adding to the whole experience. Ranveer Singh doesn’t do anything out of the ordinary in this film for a change, but he sticks to his character without going overboard in desperation to prove just how good an actor he is. The casting is perfect and the secondary characters, as always, steal the show. Cirkus has a subtle message that is very relevant and kudos to Shetty for once again addressing something so sensitive without being preachy and without any propaganda.

What is not

If you’re expecting the same amount of laughs as Rohit Shetty’s previous films in his comic universe, you’ll be disappointed. While there are moments that will make you cringe, most of the jokes are juvenile or have a “saw that”, “heard that” feeling attached to them. The first half is slow but the film fortunately resumes after an interval. The supporting characters in Shetty’s films have always stood out. And it’s a given that in a universe there will be uniformity when it comes to characters and their nuances. While that’s okay, it’s high time there are a few new additions with new quirks to its “highly exposed” set to add new entertainment. The songs could have been better, nothing stands out apart from Current Laga, that too thanks to Deepika Padukone, who lights up the screens with her performance. Ranveer and Deepika look like they’re having fun and make you want to see more of them in a movie of their own.

BL Verdict

Cirkus is led by Rohit Shetty, the man behind some of Bollywood’s most beloved great artists; it stars Ranveer Singh who is one of the best actors we have in India right now and the movie is suitable for the festive season. It’s the season to be merry! So if you’re looking to enjoy a family movie, with innocuous entertainment this holiday season, Cirkus is for you. Tip: Take children and elderly family members with you.
