Los Angeles Rams star Aaron Donald likely won’t play again this season | NFL News

Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald’s injury is worse than initially feared

Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald is unlikely to play again this season, coach Sean McVay announced Friday.

McVay originally ruled out Donald for Sunday’s game against the visiting Denver Broncos because of the ankle injury he suffered in the Rams’ 26-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 27.

When asked if the 31-year-old Donald would play for the Rams again this season, McVay was quick to respond.

“Probably not,” he said.

McVay was then asked about the thinking behind this decision.

“I’m just thinking, ‘Will he be fully allowed to be Aaron Donald? ‘” McVay said. β€œAnd if he is, talk to him and see. But otherwise, we will err on the side of intelligence with him. But obviously, he’s a guy who’s definitely earned the right to talk to her. But it’s not cleared yet and I don’t know if I see that changing in the next two weeks.

A seven-time All-Pro, Donald has five sacks and 49 tackles β€” including 10 for loss β€” this season. He also has a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

The three-time Defensive Player of the Year was named to his ninth Pro Bowl on Monday.

In addition to Donald, center Brian Allen, defensive tackle Marquise Copeland, Trevon Howard, linebacker Jake Gervase, receiver Ben Skowronek and quarterback John Wolford were ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Broncos.
