Mel B’s daughter embraces her inner “Scary Spice.”
Mel’s daughter, Phoenix Chi Gulzar, took to social media to share a series of photos of herself dressed like her mom from when she was ‘Scary Spice’ as a member of the popular girl group Spice Girls from the 90s. The posts showed her recreating images from album covers as well as clips from the group’s music videos.
The first set of photos posted to Instagram were a recreation of promotional posters for the 1997 film “Spiceworld: The Movie.” In the photos, Phoenix can be seen wearing a gold crop top and pants, with her hair half up. in space buns.
Not only did she dress like her mother in the poster, but she also posed like her, putting her hands to her face as she smiled at the camera while leaning back. In another photo in the same outfit, she has her hands on her hips and sticks her tongue out smiling.
MEL B SAYS JAMES CORDEN IS THE ‘GREATEST D-HEAD’ IN HOLLYWOOD THAT SHE HAS EVER MET: ‘HE WAS NOT VERY NICE’
Along with the photos, Phoenix posted behind-the-scenes footage to her TikTok account, showing how she was able to recreate the photos so perfectly. In the video for the “Spiceworld: The Movie” posters, it showed Phoenix in a studio followed by photos of her mother for comparison.
“Loved this outfit from a photoshoot mom did in 1997,” she captioned the video, which had the popular Spice Girls song “Wannabe” playing in the background.
In another video, Phoenix can be seen outside on what looks like a hiking trail wearing a leopard print top and black miniskirt, very similar to what her mother can be seen wearing in the music video. She paired the outfit with black combat boots and silver jewelry and struck a few poses that may look familiar to Spice Girls fans.
“Recreated my moms say you’ll be there for the photo shoot!” Phoenix captioned the video. “What do you think?”
Finally, Phoenix recreated her mother’s look from the cover of the 1997 album “Spice Up Your Life.” She put on the same quilt patterned top and bottom.
Phoenix isn’t the only one thinking about the Spice Girls. Mel B spoke of a possible reunion on BBC Channel 4 talk show ‘Steph’s Packed Lunch’ in 2021, sharing that the girls “were kind of in talks last year but then COVID hit , so that kind of pushed everyone’s plans.”
“But I think we hope to be on the same page together – they’re going to kill me for saying that – but we hope, especially me, if it has anything to do with me, which it will, because that I am the driving force, and I will make that happen, for a 2023 tour.”
The group also consists of Melanie “Mel C” Chisholm, also known as “Sporty Spice”, Emma Bunton, also known as “Baby Spice”, Geri Halliwell Horner, also known as “Ginger Spice” and Victoria Beckham, also known as “Spice Chic.” The last time the whole band performed together was at the closing ceremonies of the 2012 London Olympics.
However, any sort of reunion is unlikely to include Beckham. During an appearance on ‘Watch What Happens Live’ earlier this year, Beckham said: “I had so much fun being part of the Spice Girls. But I think now, with everything going on with my fashion and beauty line, four kids, I couldn’t commit to it.”
